As Hurricane Dorian approaches, how to stay informed on service updates

Research Triangle Park, NC (Sept. 5, 2019) – GoTriangle managers are closely monitoring the advance of Hurricane Dorian and implementing plans that will keep customers fully informed if weather conditions warrant any service changes.

“Safety is always our No. 1 priority for our riders and our employees,” says Shelley Blake Curran, GoTriangle’s interim CEO and president.” “We are tracking the hurricane and talking with emergency personnel, and we plan to keep our service up and running as long as it is safe.”

Transit customers are encouraged to sign up for email alerts and check service alerts on the gotriangle.org website, to download the TransLoc app or to call the Regional Information Center for updates and help at 919-485-7433.

GoTriangle is in contact with state emergency management officials and is on standby if needed to make buses, operators and dispatchers available to help with any necessary evacuations or supply deliveries. The Federal Transit Administration has suspended its rules on charter buses, allowing transit agencies like GoTriangle to use buses for emergency operations.

In addition to monitoring gotriangle.org, transit customers can follow the agency’s Twitter and Facebook accounts for service updates or any detours. Follow GoTriangle on Twitter at @GoTriangle and on Facebook at @GoTriangle. The TransLoc app and triangle.transloc.com website offer real-time updates on when buses should arrive. If Dorian affects the eastern or coastal areas of North Carolina, GoTriangle will be ready to collect and deliver supplies to areas in need through a Hurricane Relief Bus effort as the agency did with partners following Hurricanes Matthew and Florence.

Please note that the City of Raleigh has canceled its Western Boulevard Corridor Bus Rapid Transit Kickoff meeting that had been scheduled for this evening.
